[OSM-newbies] Final year project

Thank you for answering Richard and Graham. You both said that I should post my questions somewhere else where anybody could read them and make suggestions, what do you mean? I thought this "newbies" mailing list would be OK...
For my final project I was thinking of something from scratch, something specific that I could do alone by myself (with some help of course),  and with relatively no time limit. I think that they would consider allowing me to work on an existing project too, but I'd rather go with the first option. I have no experience in OSM, but I have time and I look forward to digging into it. I do have experience in programming with C, C++ and Java, and I would like to work on a project related to the telematic area of OSM if possible...
