[Osmf-talk] Reinvigorating working groups. Join in!

In the past there were talks of a Funding Working Group. That may have
turned into the Strategic Working Group.

I think it would be good to have such a WG. Primarily because when
companies are giving away money out of the good-of-their-heart budget or
advertising budget, they expect to deal with the same person in the
receiving organisation. They also like it if that organisation remembers
the best time to contact them, or indeed when and what-for they last gave
money. Additional, the past has seen issues due to clashing OSMF funding
requests or otherwise badly timed requests that could have been

I suppose such a Funding Working Group would have tasks such as:
* Co-ordinate needs and desires for money in OSMF at specific times.
* Work closely with & supporting WGs such as Operations(server needs),
Communications(announcing funding drives), and SotM(sponsorship).
* Pass agreement details onto the OSMF treasurer and/or accountant.
* Contact external companies and maintain a good relationship with them.
* Maintain records for transparency of what financial relationships exist.
It may be wise & acceptable for some information to be kept private, such
as which companies choose not to give on some/any occasions, and bank

I don't think I'm particularly skilled to take this on & I'd like to be
increasing my time with another WG. Is there anyone that is interested?
People the WG might need (not exhaustive):
* Overview and directional skills to get this WG going
* Minuting skills & following up if people do assigned skills
* Enthusiasm for OSM to think up/list companies that it would be cool to
have support us
* Enthusiasm for OSM to contact a company and tell them about OSMF's latest
funding oppotunity
* Relational skills for maintaining contact with an individual of a
company. You may maintain links with 50 companies, or only 10 or 1.

I can just suggest that this WG needs to happen, but it's really good if
people take this up as something they want to be part of. No good if it's
taken up completely by people helping 5 other WGs already because it will
just fall by the way-side again.
