Here is the World Health Organization info-graphic map of gender-based

As seen from this WHO map it is a global omnipresent problem. I've heard 
at a conference that it is a frequent misconception to think that it 
exists only in remote parts. It exists everywhere with about the same 
rate (1 in 3 women).

No one even argues if it exists or not. The question is if something 
could be done to improve this ubiquitous situation at least a little.
