Hi Peter,
I've started a new thread because it's good to let the paid-staff
discussion con tinue on it's own.

I'm now on the SotM-WG team (a lot of us joined recently and are catching
up). It is not fair to blame the OSMF board for the "discovery" of no SotM
this year. As a working group we were wanting to make sure we posted a good
message to members and the wider public. Some people may have picked up on
how much things had got delayed. There was a post on a non-English blog a
few days before the OSMF blog post got published (it was in draft at that
stage just waiting for agreements/tweaks I think).

For transparency of the SotM-WG I have been taking minutes and I've been a
bit delayed in getting the first 3 online. This is about learning the
workflow and it will hopefully get smoother/quicker as we move on.

Taking and publishing minutes is difficult. I tend to write
(almost)-everything down verbatim because that's all my brain can do (like
it can't scan-read). I do not expect the board f2f to have minutes like
that. A lot of the time will probably have been learning how each other
work and their favourite past times.

In the "stating how cool" article posted there was a screenshot of post-it
notes on the window. I could not zoom-in to read them, I would like to and
I think it should be published. There was a remark included in the article
that work was yet to be done in typing up notes. We can't just put the
photo/post-its on someone's desk and have them type them up. We have to
wait for a voluntary board member who volunteered for the typing task to
thus type up the notes (and probably get them accepted by the whole board).

In short, yes I think there is a lot of improvement that could be done by
the current board to get them to the level of transparency they were
calling for when candidates.

Gregory.
