Christoph,

Local chapters have advised the Board that the road from local community
to local chapter is complicated and hard to navigate. I see nothing
wrong with the LCCWG's helping local communities make that journey more
easily.  If you object to this role for the LCCWG, please state your
objection.

The OSMF Board is currently consulting with the membership on the
GeoLibres local chapter application.  Please share any thoughts or
constructive suggestions regarding that application to this list.

Your citation of the GitLab note
(https://gitlab.com/osmfoundation/lccwg/-/issues/5) and its accompanying
*cough* imply that you believe the LCCWG is in fact involved in
"approval" of applications.  The full quote reads as follows:

Regarding the content of the GitLab note cited above, OSM India faces
some specific hurdles peculiar to Indian law that will make attainment
of local chapter status more difficult than is the case in most other
countries.  I have thus suggested to others involved in the LCCWG's work
that a dialog with OSM India might lead to a solution to the problems
OSM India faces in even applying for local chapter status.  If you see
potential harm in such a dialog, please state your concerns clearly to
this list so that we may take them into account.
