I'm unhappy to share the view of Peter and Mateusz.
Not only it's "common practice" from MapBox users not to show OSM
attribution (among others) but even worse on the official map of MapBox
(link given by Mateusz,
https://api.mapbox.com/styles/v1/mapbox/streets-v9.html?title=true&access_token=pk.e...),
the attribution is as follow:
© Mapbox <https://www.mapbox.com/about/maps/> © OpenStreetMap
<http://www.openstreetmap.org/about/> Improve this map
<https://www.mapbox.com/map-feedback/>
The third link send the user to https://apps.*mapbox*.com/feedback/ and
is written as follow:
How can *we* improve the map?
All the 6 links on this page refer to *mapbox* pages, and we have no
clue then under which license the data will be added, not even where
(for satellite imagery maybe to Maxar).
That is not correct. A trapping system, should we start referring to GAFAMM?
Maybe at the end the OSM database is improved but at least it refrains
people to contribute directly.
I'm not saying Facebook is better: what about data compatible with OSM
like phone numbers or opening hours? Those are presented close to OSM
map but are not shared (as far as I know) in ODbL.
Is that correct?
The idea behind ODbL is to ease data convergence: we all improve the
data and we all benefit from the improvements.
Here it moves in GM direction: you help G or M or F to improve /their/
maps...
Not exactly what I expect when I'm contributing to OSM.
