[Osmf-talk] default OSM Carto style

The previous thread title didn't seem to sum up what was being discussed.

Perhaps we should list a few requirements:

Supports multiple languages.

Once a day extract should be fine.

Ideally we'd like to be able to send a compressed data file to the device
and have it rendered on the device.

The impression I have is that individual users often look at a square
kilometer or less.  Can we figure out a way to serve these up in compressed
format?

I'm thinking of OSMand world map then smaller chunks approach.

Maperitive functionally works on Windows. You can do searches etc using
scripts but it needs work for a more friendly user interface.

It actually allows you to select the language ie pick up the name: tag.

Thoughts?
