Dropped base layer blurb and tightened vertical space; it now fits in 700px vertically.

Technically it does do something, namely show the sidebar, which contains an explanation that zooming in is necessary. Also, it isn't a regression; if we want to change the behavior, let's do it in a separate PR.

Done. I don't see any dotted border myself though, so I assume it's OS-specific -- please confirm if it's fixed for you.

Regarding links versus text inputs for sharing, I think what you said applies: let's worry about that separately rather than trying to pack the entire kitchen sink into this one change. It seems to me that there's a general consensus that this is overall an improvement. Furthermore, it opens up further changes such as the above, which I have ready to submit and discuss once this is accepted.
