The 2 issues are separate on purpose, not because Tom insta killed this one.

Even if the layer switcher is easier to use, even after Carto is dead and vector tiles are finally the default. Having one render, whatever render it ends up being next, being so much more famous than the others is bad for OSM.

If that's what's decided, OK, but I don't understand why that much power would be given to a single render again.

With eyes wide open, let's make the same mistake again.
