Agreed. And we're taking a step in a similar direction in Canada.
Two of the three most-prolific decliner accounts in Canada are in
large part, imports. Large portions of those imports have not been
subsequently edited. This was discussed on talk-ca@ and #osm-ca and
we decided to do a test-delete of that data where
1) it was created by either of the two accounts,
2) still v1,
3) not natural=coastline.
We expect that this will remove more than 50% of the RED data in
Canada. Additional expected benefits are that:
1) remaining tainted data should be easier to spot and reconcile
2) remapper time is directed to recovering interesting data rather
than simply undoing an empty import.
3) we'll all have a chance to review this process and refine it in
other areas and cases.
This removal is currently in progress, so we'll have comments on it over time.
