- [Routing] Fellow mappers, , , I have the pleasure to announce the initial release of a high-perfomance, routing backend that is able to handle thousand(s) of requests per, minute. So, without further ado, here is the Open Source Routing Machine, (OSRM), an engine that lets you serve shortest paths within miliseconds, or even less. Some of the highlights:, , - blazingly fast shortest path computation, - standardized KML output of the routes, - tools to preprocess and to serve the routes of any .osm file, - multicore support, - open source, - actively under development, , Give it a try by pointing your browser to, , http://routingdemo.geofabrik.de/, , where a demo installation with a nice and light web user interface, serves routes for the road network of Western Europe. Thanks to Frederik, and Jochen at Geofabrik for serving and preparing the demo., , The source of the routing engine is freely available under the Affero, GNU Public License (AGPL) at, , http://sourceforge.net/projects/routed/, , for anyone., , This first release gives you fast routes and there are many things that, are going to follow in the coming months, i.e. turn directions have not, yet been implemented and does not obey turn restrictions. Also, the, extraction of the road network is still rudimentary. Questions, bug, reports and patches are welcome, be it on this list or at the projects, bug tracker [1]., , Best wishes and happy routing, , Dennis, , [1] https://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/routed/
