Yes, totally valid on your first point. Any poll is going to be limited
by misunderstandings or lack of options. What I hope to do is to produce
a better poll which is more tailored to finding specifically what people
want. For instance, there are many democratic systems and perhaps we
want a group of community representatives and not a single leader. And I
haven't properly defined who is "in the community".
More discussion is probably not what we need unless it becomes much more
focused, IMHO. We can start with rough definitions and try to test the
water and incrementally try to understand what people want, while being
pragmatic. (See "Loki's wager") A single poll can't do that, of course.
If there is to be discussion, it might be to identify what are the most
important questions at this time. I am mainly thinking of OSM governance
but the same applies outside that too. My intuitive feeling is to try to
clarify what "anarchy" means. Some people are voting for it saying "I
don't want the structure of OSM defined" and others say it means "I want
minimal central control of OSM", which are two different positions.
Perhaps we should wait a few weeks (or longer) before polling again...?
