Is that right? I'd assumed the name tag was used for the "common
local name" as per the wiki. So name can be the name in the local
language. I've been using name:en for the English name where that
differs from the local language name.
NB http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:name says
"you can use the local script for the default name tag" which implies
that name need not be in English.
