[Tagging] Some problems with representing highways as areas

Is it OK to tag linear pedestrian highways (highway=footway on way) as
highway=footway+area=yes areas?

Is it OK to tag linear pedestrian highways (highway=footway on way) as
highway=footway+area=yes areas and delete linear segments?

Is it OK to tag linear highways used by pedestrian and cyclists
([highway=path;
bicycle=designated; foot=designated; segregated=*] on way) as
areas and delete linear segments?

Is it OK to tag linear ways across pedestrian square that has no given
direction
on the area but there are some more often used routes?
