There are relatively few top-level categories that data consumers 
understand (shop, office, leisure etc.).  You're at liberty to create 
something else, but in all likelihood no-one would no what it was.  
Often it helps to look in OSM (e.g. by searching taginfo) to see what 
existing or similar things have already been mapped as.

OSM already has quite a few book exchanges (tagging mostly as "public 
bookcases" I think).  There are probably other better examples - maybe 
have a look at see what they are?
