[Tagging] Feature Proposal - RFC - defensive structures

maybe there is a better term for all of the proposed things together? We
already have plenty of tags for defensive structures, like
barrier=wall
barrier=fence
barrier=city_wall
historic=citywalls
historic=city_gate
military=trench
military=bunker
man_made=tower
historic=castle
wall=castle_wall

is there a reason for the new key "defensive_structure" rather than
continuing with the established scheme, e.g. historic=bastion or
historic=glacis? Your proposal states that defining the relationship of the
new with the established tags is "out of scope" of the proposal. I believe
it would be quite in scope.
