you should not delete any tags from OSM just because a proposal for their
definition has been rejected, particularly if there aren't any (supposedly)
synonymous tags established.
By definition, any use of undocumented tags is valid (any tags you like).

There seems to be a misconception, what got rejected was your prosal for a
definition, not the tag. ;-)
