I support the proposal. I don't care too much about there being a link
if someone took the time to create one, but the "there is no link here,
please create one" has always irked me, because this request for mappers
to do something has been created by a tiny minority of Wikidata
enthusiasts trying to push OSMers in their direction. It creates the
effort that there was some sort of consensus in OSM that "there should
be a link" when in fact no such consensus exists, and the average mapper
or wiki user does not benefit from OSM tags being linked to Wikidata.
I don't buy into Andy's talk of this proposal being "flawed". When these
links (and prompts to create new links) were first introduced (with
Andy's eager participation), nobody asked if we perhaps find a flaw with
them, they were just pushed out there.
(And yes, for those late to the party, this is not about linking
individual OSM objects to individual Wikidata entries - this is about an
attempt to represent OSM's tagging structure in Wikidata. Something that
may well be the hobby of a few Wikidata enthusiasts, but not something
that should be pushed into the face of every wiki user!)
Bye
Frederik
