Hi all,
TS here. Very interesting to see all this involvement in the subject!
My original proposal has been obsoleted because Payment:Cash already
exists. Bottom line is that there is no change to the OSM tag system
on shops etc.
The discussion then revolved around "someone bulk tagging an assumed
default". That is not the way OSM is "supposed" to be used, as far as
I can tell. And I hope the mechanisms in place to stop or revert such bulk
alterations will do their work, indeed.
The logical way to use 'Payment:cash' in my understanding would be:
- Tag unused? Cash acceptance or refusal unknown.
- Tag used? (With either yes or no), Cash acceptance or refusal verified
and relevant.
I'm not in the position to say much more about it as I'm new to OSM. But
most importantly, nothing was changed.
If some new people come to OSM to add payment:cash tags to the shops they
visit, I expect no-one minds. If a new person comes to OSM and bulk adds a
payment;cash=yes to all Tesco's in the UK, well that would be pretty
unreliable I would say, cause before you realise a Sweden-like situation
occurs where a Tesco-to-go branch stops accepting cash...
