Some time ago, I introduced the playability=* tag to offer data
consumers information about the quality and hence potential enjoyment
and/or risk of injury of sports courts. I documented general usage
https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:playability and table tennis
specific usage https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:sport%3Dtable_tennis

I had encouraged discussion about this on the table tennis wiki page,
but there wasn't any response.

The tag is designed in analogy to the smoothness=* tag, which gives
information about the quality of highway surfaces. playability=* shares
similar advantages and disadvantages with smoothness=*.

Disadvantage:
It has a risk of being somewhat subjective. This can be overcome at
least partially by (semi-)objective definitions, similar to smoothness.

Advantage:
Similar to smoothness, it offers valuable information about the quality.
Being a cyclist, I find smoothness one of the most useful OSM tags of
all, although it is arguably not perfectly objective.
The consideration for the playability tag is similar: Public table
tennis courts have hugely varying quality, which has a big impact on the
enjoyment. The same is true for many other types of sport.

I don't currently have the capacity to put this into a formal RFC, but
if somebody wants to do so, that would of course be much appreciated.
