I like the QStarz Q1000. It doesn't have 200.000 waypoints, but it still
has enough. It's 100 euros at gpsshop.be. It can be used as a Bluetooth
GPS-mouse and it can be used as a datalogger. It's very accurate and
reliable due to its sensitivity which means it picks up very weak
signals and therefore many satellites. I use it as a backup, so I have
two traces (or at least one when the battery of the other device dies).
The battery goes on for a few days on standby and for more than 10 hours
when in use with bluetooth on. It's not AA though, but it is replaceable
and it's a standard GSM battery.
I also had an AD-850. It seemed to cut corners short when there is
foliage overhead, like in a forest. Battery is not replaceable. When
converting its log to a gpx the straightforward way timestamps are lost.
There is also another way, but the person who bought it from me
discovered that, so I don't have experience with it.
Both devices are sturdy enough and don't weigh too much.
I wouldn't spend all the money on dataloggers, right away. 4 or 5 should
be enough to start with.
