I agree with Lennard and you : this solution puts the information at hand for later usage.

I am just curious about the importance of hierarchic centres, even small, on the basic infrastructure of historic mesh covering our old countries.
For instance, the persistency of old Roman roads (Romeinse Steenwegen) in our landscape stirred my imagination when I was young (I am born along the Bavai-Tongeren Roman path).
