Hi everyone,
First of all, nice to meet you! I'm quite new to mapping in OSM and came up
with a school-related question, so I'm glad that coincidentally this thread
was started :).
I'm wondering what you think is the right way to tag a "peutertuin", which
is a specific kind of childcare facility.
To quote a Flemish policy plan for childcare
<http://docs.vlaamsparlement.be/pfile?id=1016055> that I found:
“A childcare facility (“kinderdagverblijf”) can operate as a "crèche" or
as a "peutertuin". The difference between the two is the age of the kids
taken care of. A "peutertuin" accepts kids between 18 and 36 months old. A
"crèche" is also open to the youngest. They take care of kids between 0 and
36 months old.” (translated from Dutch)
In the case of this "peutertuin"
<https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/9836753155>, I added a
childcare facility and indicated (implicitly) that it's a "peutertuin" by
adding an age_group tag. Is this sufficient, or do you think it would be
good to add a specific tag to distinguish this type of childcare facility
from others more clearly?
I'm not translating the terms "crèche" and "peutertuin" here because I
couldn't come up with unambiguous translations. For "peutertuin", I
sometimes see "kindergarten" or "preschool" being used, but that's
confusing given the fact that those are also used for “kleuterscholen”.
(That’s the reason why I removed the kindergarten tag that I had originally
added to this peutertuin.)
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Hi all,
For my work, I'm attempting to get usable school data out of OSM.
Surprisingly, tagging for schools is pretty hard to do as there is no
decent tagging scheme for them.
As school systems wildly vary across the world, it is at this point
near-impossible to come up with a global tagging scheme.
Instead, I'm setting up a tagging scheme for Belgium alone.
With this mailing, I'd like to open the discussion in Belgium on how these
can be tagged.
Please, have a look at the relevant wiki page

and
join the discussion either there or on this mailing list.
Furthermore, I'm also interested in how well such a theme would work in
other countries. Maybe a small tweak can make this applicable e.g. in
France, the Netherlands or Germany too.
Kind regards,
Pieter
