Hi Bruno,
> OpenStreetMaps imports CANVEC data.
> CANVEC OpenData are provided by Natural Resources Canada.
> All Natural Resources Canada data are subject to the Open Government
> Licence – Canada.
> Open Government Licence - Canada includes a restrictive attribution
> term which is not compatible with our ODBL licence.

The ‘© OpenStreetMap contributors
<http://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=19/43.66316/-79.41078>’ link on the
map has the following in the /Our contributors/ section:

*Canada*: Contains data from GeoBase®, GeoGratis (© Department of
Natural Resources Canada), CanVec (© Department of Natural Resources
Canada), and StatCan (Geography Division, Statistics Canada).

This would be referring to the explicit permission that NRCan/StatCan
gave OSM some years ago. This is a form of attribution.

Many other national contributors
<https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Contributors> use an OGL licence,
such as in the UK
<https://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/doc/open-government-licence/version/3/>.
These contain very similar attribution terms as the OGL-CA licence. I
noticed our Canada section of the (now vast) contributors' page was
missing language that the OGL-CA licence requires, so I added it:
‘/Contains information licensed under the Open Government Licence –
Canada <http://open.canada.ca/en/open-government-licence-canada>./’ I
may have put it in the wrong place; discuss.

cheers,
 Stewart
(who is totally _not_ getting into the /Just because you can, doesn't
mean you should/ bit of the CanVec imports argument; nope, nosirree …)
