[Talk-GB] What does tourism=caravan_site mean?

I agree with you that the edit will turn out to be wrong, but I have a
slightly different view of the terminology, being a regular user of such
places.

In normal usage, a "caravan site" would be for touring (i.e. towed
caravans); it would almost certainly accept motorhomes, and would be
quite likely to accept tents (not guaranteed - all pitches could be hard
standing - I've stayed at one like that).  (Larger) sites may or may not
have statics as well.  The wiki fits this : it says "people with
*caravans* / motorhomes / recreational vehicles can stay overnight"

I do know of a few sites that take motorhomes and tents, but not (towed)
caravans.  This is generally because access down little country lanes
would be a problem, as at the one I'm taking my campervan to soon.  I'd
tag those astourism=camp_site as you suggest.  I've never stayed on a
motorhome-only site, though I believe there are a very few.

Apart from anything else, a chalet is one unit, so changing a whole site
to onetourism=chalet is almost bound to be an error - but it could be a
case of mapping a bunch of chalets in one area.  The distinction between
static caravans and chalets can be a little blurred - chalets can be
prefabricated and arrive on wheels - but things called chalets normally
hide the frame and wheels with panelling.

I think reverting would seem more likely to be right than wrong, but
there may be grounds to try and check some of them.  I'll have a look if
you like, and if you post a link.

Chris
