[Talk-in] Mapping without a smartphone : options + process?

There are dedicated GPS devices, Garmin is one of well known producers 
(though there may be some cheaper alternative), this devices have 
still much better accuracy and vastly longer battery life.

You can map with JOSM/iD and just make a notes on paper while surveying.
