you got my point exactly!

been climbing mountains myself recently. last data uploaded by me in osm was
trail to summit in kanlaon via guintubdan trail. trail tracks are very
useful particularly in the outdoors. you need not rely 100 percent on the
gps but i feel safer with this info uploaded to my gps.

this is also helpful in search and rescue operations particularly in the
mountains where road maps are not that important. we need topo maps in these
mountains plus trail maps and waypoints.

i still havent uploaded my waypoints but i usually save campsites, water
source, rest stops, and other important points along the trail sucj as
landmarks. and of course the summits. (so when i hike with people who keep
on asking "are we there yet?" i can easily say we are about so and so
kilometers away and it will take us about so and so hours hehe) was able to
do this during recent climb to pulag :)

anyway i hope you guys (the compilers) hear me on this. :) i dont know if i
can learn the process but you can rely on me for data gathering :)
