Related to previous Rail-Trail / Cycle-Trail threads - [but on Mass list
again since local]
A friend was at the ground breaking events for Cochituate Rail Trail's
Natick extension yesterday.
Apparently the Natick portion has been open as unimproved trail (jogging,
mountainbikes?) for some time, this improvement project will bring it to
cycletrail standards, and involves closing portions of the trail.
I'm told construction has actually ben underway for a couple months but the
silver shovels were there Friday, go figure; and there will be new CRT
overpass at both Route 30 and Route 9.
OSM has the extension as Proposed, seems ok.
ETA is apparently October but 2020 may be realistic ? Other news reports
say 2021 for all improvements ??
I note we do not have a Relation connecting the several ways of the open
section. Per prior comment on US-Talk about merging relations being awkward
for history, I am not creating two separate relations now, since it's maybe
only months until we could have a single relation. If we make two
relations now, one for open one for under construction, we should be sure
the real one is the winner in future merge.
