The OSM German community has a ton of local meetings. They also have a wiki template http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Template:Lokale_Gruppe that is scraped by a web site to place all of the local meetings on a map. http://openstreetmap.de/ Wouldn't it be cool to have something like that for US local groups?
