With very few exceptions, these should be single carriageway.  Possible
edge cases being wide gaps in a median for multiple driveways, or a flush
median (not sure if New Orleans has this concept, but in most places that
do, the flush median has two longitudinal yellow stripes, and has diagonal
yellow markings guiding you back towards the traffic lanes, such as shown

It's a major pain because of the intersections, for sure.  I've been doing
this piecemeal in Oklahoma City due to the fact almost every street with
more than one lane on a side came from TIGER as a dual carriageway.
