The site previously discussed, www.jomidav.com, has been significantly updated
with new papers discussing the OS copyright question. The conclusion is that
almost all data on the Soviet maps is independent of OS material.
I liked this quote:
"I did hear someone say that the Russians did not use Ordnance Survey mapping
because it was merely capitalist government propaganda"
Perhaps that should be another "why are we doing this?" for OSM. :)

P.S. I'd like to suggest Adobe Illustrator format as much more suitable for
storing geodata than either XML or CSV <g,d&r>
