I've used NPE on one occasion to look up an urban road with a
suspiciously-irregular GPX trace (my memory of the road was that it was
straight) but where NPE really comes into its own arguably is country
lanes. With urban roads you have to get the names anyway for the map to be
useful, but country lanes often don't have a name - so, if you tend to
focus your countryside mapping on footpaths, rather than roads, you can
quickly get a useful map of the countryside without having to walk along
all of the lanes.
