According to www.garmin.com, the Garmin StreetPilot 2650, 2660,
and 7500 have something called "dead reckoning" which requires a
connection to your car's speedometer. The website says "Once
installed, your StreetPilot will acknowledge your turns as well as
your distance traveled when GPS reception is unavailable" and that
sounds good to me.

Garmin's suggested retail price is $1400, $1750 and $1939 for
these units, compared to $858, $1072 and $1616 for the StreetPilot
6210, 6220 and 7200 that don't do dead reckoning. So apparently
this feature is worth either $542, $678 or $323.
