I don't agree with Imi about the creation of a generic
anonymous account, but you should not pose yourself as
a privacy king here. You breach privacy by gathering
semi-open information like e-mails, ip addresses,
allowing transmission of passwords as cleartext,
exporting edit information in quasi-realtime over RSS,
etc.
IMHO, your only business is authentication of data
submissions, and having a user's public RSA/DSA key is
enough. If it is good for the sourceforge CVS, why is
it not good for OSM ?
