Maybe it's best I pass on this one in as I don't know python (yet) (but am 
willing to pick it up for any future hacking tasks).

However, is there anything I can do relating to the actual mapnik rendering 
side of things.... i.e. linking mapnik rendering up to the API so that a tile 
is generated when some data changes?

Any other outcomes from last night btw?
