The easiest way if to open the gpx tracklog directly in JOSM.

File > Open, the chose your gpx track.

Once you've done this click the download button to get existing OSM data for 
the area (ensure the "open as raw gps data" is NOT checked), to ensure you 
are not duplication work already done.
