Yes - things I like about Richard's design include:

* it emphasises the fact that it's a project to "draw a free map of the world" 
and engenders interest by asking "Has your town been mapped?" This sort of 
approach will, I feel, draw in users and minimise the sort of people who 
don't like OS copyright but when presented with a free alternative, say 
"there's nothing there yet...."

* nice visual design. The three divisions with three aspects to the project 
"view" "edit" and "get involved". I agree with other comments about the 
rounded corners - they 'work' so why not have them....

* 'next event' makes it look current and quickly gives potential users an idea 
of when the next meet is.
