I said that the usability after 0.5 dived, never mentioned it was good. But
it was usable for me which is what usability means. ;)
Unfortunately, the current "modeless" way has it's drawbacks as well

I'm also getting tired of the moment a person mentions something in the list
around a drawback or what other people think, we get a response saying
"Don't complain, do something about it." The main reason for sending my
initial email was to solicit a conversion around what people think about the
current state of JOSM before going deeper into what we might be able to do.
