Doesn't it make more sense to pick one spelling and use it consistently?

Would it make sense to have one specific generic "insufficiently
specified landmark" symbol, perhaps involving a question mark, rather
than having to reinvent a new symbol for an insufficiently-specified
place of worship, an insufficiently-specified sports ground (which
sport?), and so on?
