How were you planning on obtaining people's "Real Names" exactly?

For a start, no... if people don't want to reveal their real names
then that's just fine. What's important here is that they are
contactable.

Threre's very little point in making people enter a "real name" when
in reality it has about as much chance of being their real name as the
nickname they choose if you ask them for one of those.

+1 for all new edits being public though. With cheap user accounts I
can't see any reasonable loss of anonimity, and the gain to the
community of being able to contact people privately through the
website looks good to me.
