There is more info and my thoughts here (and to be honest I much prefer the
forum to communicate)

http://osm.na1400.info/viewtopic.php?id=255

I don't understand how it will be illegal at all. We are not storing the
street name or postcode I am proposing to looking at the streets by hand to
get the data just lookup the info and compare.

Also the same model can easily be used for everywhere else in the world no
doubt I just don't know how easy it is to get a index list (AtoZ, postal
service, offical records) of street names and the postal/zoning codes.

Anyway I thought it would be useful as afaik atm you do not know if you have
mapped an area properly, say, for these mapping weekends.

It was suggested that Steve Coast might have a copy of an official list. I
only need a distinct list of street name and half a postcode for it to work.
If I have all the data it will be easy to right a simple SQL query to get
what I need than I can workout the OSM data.

/mailing list rant = on

It is the year 2007 now not 1997 when people last used mailing lists or was
in that when people lived in caves when they were last used. Dunno maybe you
all wind your computers up........

I don't really want to give everyone my email address and posted on the
Internet for all to see (WTF?!!) just to give an offer of help. Mailing
lists where you cannot find the information you want and I am really not
interested in any other subject apart from this one at this stage yet I will
be getting constant spam about all subjects forever. I could go on and
on...........

Forums are a much more modern way of communicating. I was
seriously considering not posting/emailing at all because of the damn
mailing lists. In fact I will probably unsubscribe shortly when I find
someone that can help as I don't want more spam.......

/mailing list rant = off

Hope that makes sense. :)
