Hey Maning,
Based on our experience, first things first: identify your audience. Who is
your audience? Students can understand materials quickly, but government
institution (around 35-ish or older) might takes time and patience. If your
audience are mixed, before you start, you can ask simple but random
question such as: who is familiar with internet? who has an email account?
or how familiar are you with maps? then you can divide them into pairs..
the one whom familiar with computer and internet stuff or maps (even
better!) with the one whom lack of computer skill.
Second, downloading all softwares would be painful. so make sure provide
some USB sticks so participants can copy the program that they need. We
usually put:
1. Java installer
2. JOSM
3. GPSBabel
4. Flash installer
5. Garmin USB driver
6. Some presets example
7. Documentations (slides and materials)
Basically we are doing 2 days training + 3 days collecting data during
workshop for BPBD in 6 provinces. But the main idea of OpenStreetMap
usually will takes 2 days. But, of course 1 day is possible!
I attached schedule for 2 days here and guide for trainers + some slides..
Cheers!
