thank you for presenting the import plan. There is the following paragraph which I believe should be adjusted:

“ In Italy, address data must be placed exclusively on nodes because the housenumber identifies the external access that leads from the street to the housing units (houses, stores, offices, etc). Therefore addresses placed on buildings will be removed.”

While it is true that housenumbers in Italy are assigned to the points where you can pass from the public to the private space (leaving aside internal numbering), the tags address tags are also used as properties of POIs. Having addr:housenumber and addr:street tags on polygons isn’t necessarily an error in OpenStreetMap, also in Italy. The existing address tags on polygons should not be removed indiscriminately, rather they should be reviewed and kept if “correct”. We do not have a better way to map the scope of validity for addresses than repeating them on the objects to where they extend. These POI addresses (in Italian indirizzo) may also differ from the housenumbers (civico) as POIs often use several numbers together as their address (e.g. we will map the nodes of the single housenumbers and additionally the address of a POI which has several of them combined).
In the case that a building has only one address (entrance) or the residents use only one housenumber, it cannot be seen as an error to have the address on the building (even if there are also housenumbers for the garden gate and the garage, etc.)

Cheers Martin
