[Osmf-talk] Membership applications from Skobbler employees

All,

In my view the reaction of the board does place not much trust on the current members. If the action by a company is threatning the working of the Foundation (which almost anyone including the board doubts), it is up to the membership to act responsibly on that. There is no need to take additional action. I see so many wise reations that I can hardly imagine that the current group of people will be overrun by 50 or so other members who could act in a coordinated way.

On the thirty day issue: I became a member on one of the SotM’s and was immediately able to join the voting. It would have been strange if you had to wait a year effectively before you can join important votings and only join the discussions.

I think you have to look at this in the context of the last time a company paid for its employees to become members. It was not received well. Perhaps things have changed.

I can only agree with all that was said before. There is nothing against these people joining NOW in the current AoA. Any delay would be against elementary democratic principles and an abuse of the board powers.

Is it arrogance? Does the board really think they are the first and only tacklin' these kind of matters?

Check www.osgeo.org, contact people in the redhat/fedora board. Talk to people at wikimedia, the current chain of events breathes amaturism. It makes me want to leave osmf.
